An x-ray is a type of radiation used to create a picture of the inside of the body including internal tissues, bones, and organs.
As x-ray beams pass through your body they are absorbed differently by various structures in the body, such as bones and soft tissues, and this is used to create an image.
At Medscan we use the Digital AGFA X-ray machine. AGFA is a world's leading manufacturer of advanced medical X-ray imaging systems. providing excellent imaging, technique flexibility and easy access for the patient.
There is no advanced preparation required for an X-Ray.
You may be asked to remove any clothing or metal objects such as keys, clips, buttons, coins around the area which is being x-rayed and wear an examination gown.
Please let the radiographer if you might be pregnant.
The area of interest is positioned between the x-ray tube and the digital x-ray cassette.
This cassette captures the x-ray beam and converts it into a digital image instantly.
You will be asked to keep still while the x-ray is taken (less than a second) and may be asked to hold your breath or stop breathing for prevent blurring the image.
Different angles and images are taken depending on the area of interest.
After your examination, the images from your study will be available on the Medscan Z-tech app. A report written by our radiologists, along with the images will be sent directly to your referring doctor. Medscan will store digital copies of all studies on our secure database for comparison with any future examinations. All images are available online with the Medscan Z-link app
